Madison Bell is an associate at Tereposky & DeRose LLP. She assists with international trade matters, including Canadian anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigations, WTO dispute settlement, investor-state dispute settlement, economic sanctions, public procurement, and customs matters. She has a particular interest in the intersection of trade law, national security, and administrative law, and brings a multidisciplinary perspective to her practice.

Madison earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa Common Law Section, graduating cum laude. Before law school, she completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a concentration in Public Law at Brock University, graduating with First Class Standing and receiving the Convocation Book Prize for the highest GPA in her faculty.

Throughout her legal studies, Madison was engaged in academic and extracurricular initiatives that emphasized mentorship, research, and advocacy. She served as a teaching assistant for a first-year legal research course, a tutor for Indigenous learners, and a writing leader with the Legal Writing Academy. She also interned as a research assistant for the Ottawa People’s Commission on the Convoy Occupation, where she examined the legal framework governing protests in Canada.

After graduation, Madison clerked at the Federal Court for the Honourable Justice John Norris. In this role, she assisted several judges, including the Chief Justice, on complex cases involving administrative, immigration, civil, tax, and national security law.

In addition to her clerkship, Madison gained commercial litigation experience at a midsize Toronto firm. She also contributed to public law initiatives, providing legislative support for the Honourable Senator Boyer and working on counter-terrorism programming in the Middle East and North Africa for Global Affairs Canada.

Madison draws on this diverse background to provide clients with thoughtful, strategic, and well-rounded legal advice.
